Staff Beat Bosses in Tough Half Marathon
Staff at Bright Finance have pipped their bosses to the post in a running event – but it was for a good cause!
Lindsey Berry, Ben Latham and Jane Greenwood from Bright took on the company’s chairman Paul Hancock and Director Julian Entwistle in the corporate challenge section of the Bright Finance Sheffield Half Marathon earlier this month.
All of the runners were helping to raise money for a number of charities, including the Sheffield Wildlife Trust and Multiple Sclerosis.
Paul Hancock, Chairman of Bright Finance, explained: "We had quite a challenge on our hands – and one of our team had to pull out of the race at the last minute due to an injury. But credit where credit is due – and the staff beat us hands down."
The first three runner times are added together to gain the finishing time of the corporate teams, and Bright Finance staff came in 37th with a time of 6 hours 5 minutes and 55 seconds, while bosses came in 42nd at a slightly slower 6 hours 22 minutes and 9 seconds.
Paul added: "Bright Finance has sponsored the event now for two years and we decided this would be a great way to continue our support. We wanted to help get the cash rolling in for good causes."
